All Inclusive luxury cruise sailing Northern Europe
Your cruise begins in the delightfully attractive city of Amsterdam, which is home to many of the world's great art treasures and a major center of the glamorous diamond trade. Unique architectural styles of the past blend with modern structures, and the web of curved and straight canals makes the city as easy to traverse by water as by land. The first stop on your cruise after departing Amsterdam is Hamburg, Germany's second largest city, and principal seaport. You will enjoy an overnight stay in this city laced by canals and full of history and culture.
Upon leaving Hamburg, you'll enter the Kiel Canal at Brunsbuttel and will go through locks that will lift your ship for a 68 mile countryside passage sailing under 9 bridges en route to the exit locks at Holtenau near the city of Kiel. The following morning, you'll arrive at Wismar, Germany, that has one of the finest preserved and restored treasuries of German Brick Gothic architecture existing, and was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002. Next you'll head to Ronne (Bornholm), Denmark, a favorite summer getaway for Danes. The Baltic island of Bornholm has rolling countryside and ruined castles and is the home of four of Denmark's seven "rundkirkes", round churches dating from the 12th century.
The 7th day of your cruise brings you to Gdansk, Poland, a major hub for trade and shipbuilding since the Middle Ages. It was beautifully restored after World War ll dnd the Old Town is a trove of Gothic and Renaissance buildings that belie the city's former wealth and importance. After a day at sea, you'll sail to the capital of Estonia, Tallinn, which comprises almost a third of Estonia's population. The main attraction is the Old Town, which is perched on a low hill by the shore, and one of the purest medieval towns in all of Northern Europe. After a day in Tallinn, you set sail for Helsinki, capital of Finland, beautifully set on a peninsula surrounded by islands and protected by fortifications at Suomenlinna. Helsinki's attractions include the harbor, market square and many spacious parks.
The next stop on your cruise is Mariehamn, Aland, Finland, the capital of the Åland Islands. The archipelago of 6,500 islands is the smallest region in Finland, and is characterized by an exiting mix of Swedish, Finnish, and Russian culture and history. Your cruise ends in Stockholm, Sweden's capital has been called the most beautiful city in the world. This "city that floats on water" sprawls over 14 islands that are linked by over 50 bridges, which cross winding waterways in all directions.
As a Distinctive Voyages guest, you'll enjoy a private welcome reception so you can meet likeminded VIPs, and a complimentary shore excursion, making your adventure even more special.
